Democratic lawmakers have made public a new tranche of what they labeled "troubling" photographs from the property of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The initial drop of 19 photographs—some of which have been seen before—along with another 70 issued later on Friday account for a minuscule portion of the almost 100,000 images provided to the House investigative panel, which is examining the actions and ties of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of apparent suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking offenses.
Featured among the notable figures shown in the initial batch are celebrities including film director Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump appears in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are obscured.
The White House responded to the release in a statement, charging Democrats of selectively "hand-picking" the pictures for electoral motives and to "try and create a false narrative."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," a White House spokesperson said, insisting that "the current government has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by repeatedly calling for openness, disclosing numerous documents of documents, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends."
The photos were released lacking captions, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the investigative panel, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's connections to affluent people.
"Now is the occasion to halt this White House cover-up and secure justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he stated in a release.
The publication of these materials occurs alongside the House panel proceeding with its inquiry into the Epstein case.
