Trio Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on December 18th.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Afterwards, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

The Darts Prodigy

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

His success continued - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it inspires more girls to get into cricket."
