A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single features a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a specific target,” a figure explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
