The Grisly Cartoon Film Conclusion That Stays With Audiences

Out of every mature animated films I have personally watched, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the dread-soaked conclusion of the graphically gory and deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director crafted a dark, somber and frequently brutal universe that included several minor , desolate twinges of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from an impulse to expand animation further, the director clarified that it was rather an effort to communicate a universal, multicultural theme about “the shared root of each battle.”

That idea is expressed through a group of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly modeled after a popular series of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a community centered on aggression as well as the military-industrial complex, many of these creatures are fixated on killing unicorns, thanks to a holy book which states the bears they were once kings of the woodland, until these creatures forced them out.

Others did not entirely bought into the brainwashing, , prefer to sample narcotics and mate in the woods.

Unlike their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings show genitals and obvious urges.

For one particularly cruel, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the war against the unicorns transforms into a road toward dominance — and especially to supremacy over his softer, kinder brother Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and a seeming sociopath , and as terror overcomes his group and takes his fellow soldiers one by one, he grabs progressively power for himself, via progressively gory, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own terror, as a growing, destructive monster in their forest.

“At the beginning, it feels like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “Yet it turns into a more serious and sad film. And by the end, it becomes a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars commences similar to among the playful movies from a renowned animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in permitting animated figures curse, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it becomes closer to a darker movie from that director, including ever more graphic violence , a noticeable link to the actual horror of battle.

By the end, it becomes a complete extreme drama massacre.

The horror that makes this an ideal spooky-season watch begins a lot earlier than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of intense movies who wish to see a film they have not viewed until now, and who can handle a story which delivers no restraint.

View it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the finale will crawl into your mind and take up residence there.
