The Australian Team Breaks New Ground as Healy Faces One Final Mountain.

It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
