Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
