Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the shocking passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence home on Sunday.
As detailed in an account quoting a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally refuted widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
