Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
