From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
