Bullish Nancy shows no fear of the sack yet the Parkhead faithful show wrath after derby defeat.

Wilfried Nancy stated he was not afraid of dismissal, maintaining, “The team is very near to things turning around,” despite sliding worryingly close to the exit with a heavy defeat by Rangers.

A Second-Half Capitulation Leads to Derby Disaster

The Hoops were ahead the visitors at the interval but a second-half capitulation allowed Danny Röhl’s team to move level on points with the defending league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was appointed in December, has now overseen six setbacks in his last eight games.

“The board and I are united at the club,” said Nancy.

Pressed on whether he was concerned, he said: “I don’t think about it. My focus is on discovering solutions to get the team to excel on details.

Fan Fury On Display

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the reality for the moment. However by saying this is the reality, that is not a sign that I am giving up. Not at all. What I mean the turnaround is near, imminently close to turn things around.”

“Really, Really Close”

Nancy continues to cling to the fact his team play well for 45 minutes at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I must remain objective.

“The standard we had at times was of top quality. That happened. I could not speak so positively if it was untrue. Therefore, regarding outcomes, I mentioned we've seen this before. That’s why I feel we are really close to things turning around. Currently: small things.”

“We produced a lot of encouraging signs that we did, like today again. But now is performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would be different if I didn't believe it. This is why I am a big believer the team can to turn things around.”

The Rangers Boss Outlook

The victorious boss refused to contemplate a title charge despite what felt like a statement victory. “One match at a time, then we can develop something here,” he said. “The confidence in the group is outstanding.”
