The co-founders of the well-known frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has claimed how corporate owner Unilever stopped the introduction for an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, that co-founded the business with his partner, disclosed that he plans to personally create the controversial flavor within an individual collection highlighting causes the company has been barred from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Dispute Involving Creators versus Parent Company

This latest announcement intensifies the ongoing disagreement among the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the UK-based consumer goods giant that acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

The co-founders have asserted how the parent company along with their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked Ben & Jerry's against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Sorbet becoming an Emblem for Support

The entrepreneur announced via social media that he's developing a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas for naming options plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder commented in a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that advocates for lasting ceasefire in Palestine while demanding addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol for support for the Palestinian people because of its coloration, that closely resemble those of the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Social Engagement plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, resulting in the parent company transferring their Israel business to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales within disputed territories.

The new product line will be developed under Ben's Best, the activist dessert company that originally created in 2016 for endorsing former political contender Bernie Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Shifts plus Future Intentions

The founder stated how he plans to develop other frozen dessert varieties focusing on issues which Ben & Jerry's was prevented from speaking about openly by corporate restrictions.

This development follows partner Mr. Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, following many years of involvement, mentioning concerns regarding how its independence was undermined following Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

At that time, Mr. Cohen commented that “My partner has a really big heart and this conflict with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to fight for corporate autonomy so that the company can achieve the social mission, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to media outlets.
