Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
